Severstal shipped the first test batch of steel to TRW (Germany), which sells car components to world class automotive companies, such as Mercedes ? Volkswagen.
   The 40 tone batch of round section steel of 21.8 mm in diameter will be used for parts of steering wheels, of which TRW is a global leader in the production.
   Severstal will produce section steel in its section rolling shop in compliance to European standards, which means meeting special requirements to chemical composition, nonmetallics and precise sizing of pieces.
   In a month it will be decided, if Severstal and TRW become partners. In that amount of time TRW will inspect the quality of the test batch. If Severstal is up the mark, it will test 4-5 new grades of steel for TRW, and will be able to enter Western European and Northern American markets.
