OJSC Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works ("MMK", or "the Company") (LSE: MMK) produced 5,948 thousand tonnes of metal at its hot-rolled products Mill 2000 in 2016 – the all-time record for annual output since the mill was commissioned. This achievement marks the third record-breaking year in a row for the mill – in 2014 Mill 2000 produced 5,930 thousand tonnes while in 2015 the production volume was 5,935 thousand tonnes.
MMK’s hot-rolled products Mill 2000 was commissioned in 1994. In 2005-2008, the sheet-rolling shop 10 was modernized – the fourth heat treating furnace was built and equipment was upgraded. This made it possible to increase capacity, expand the product range, and improve the mechanical characteristics of the products. Currently, Mill 2000 is one of the most impressive and state of the art facilities in Russia. The Mill produces steel for various industries including pipes, construction, and machinery manufacturing. Its equipment makes it possible to produce the full range of MMK steel grades. Sheet width varies from 760 mm to 1,830 mm while thickness ranges from 1.2 to 20.0 mm. Mill 2000 is the first stage in the production of high-quality high-tensile automotive sheet produced by the cold-rolled Mill 2000 at sheet-rolling shop 11, and of cold-rolled sheet produced at sheet-rolling shop 5.
