In the course of the re-certification audit it was necessary to convince the certification body, that the Severstal environment management system still meets the requirements of ISO 14001: 96 three years after awarding the conformity certificate to the company.

We would like to remind, that the company's EM system was certified on conformity to the requirements of the above standard in Sep. 2001. From the day of awarding, BVQI twice a year accomplished the supervisory audits and repeatedly marked, that the Severstal EM system was developed rationally, integrated organically into the company's management system and aimed at dual - ecological & economic - goals: the reduction of the environmental impact and the decrease of specific power consumption. The management-by-objectives method introduced permits the accomplishment of regular monitoring of the EM system main operations and their efficiency.

BVQI carried out the re-certification audit in 28 subdivisions of Production, Personnel, Technical and Commercial Administrations.

After realization of a number of measures elaborated on basis of the audit results, the auditor company recommended JSC Severstal for ISO 14001: 96 certification.
