Moscow, October 16, 2008. OJSC INTER RAO UES and the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (LPDR) have agreed the priorities of mutually beneficial cooperation.
On Tuesday in Moscow there took place negotiations between Douangsavath Souphanouvong, Government Apparatus Minister, Adviser to the LPDR Prime Minister, acting in accordance with the instructions from the LPDR Prime Minister, and Evgeny Dod, Chairman of the Management Board of Russia's energy group.
The Memorandum signed to document the results of the meeting confirms the parties’ mutual interest in implementing promising investment projects in the electric power sector of Laos. The cooperation priorities identified include the development of new hydrogeneration assets and upgrading of the power grid in the republic.
A joint working group will be set up by the end of November 2008 to study the mentioned projects.
