According to the Russian World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Kreon analytical group, which assessed potential environmental impact of the Russian companies, LUKOIL ranks among the country’s top oil and gas companies in the annual environmental performance rating. Compared to results of preceding periods, the company has moved one position up and now ranks the fourth best.
As of the end of 2016, LUKOIL also won in a special category “for high quality and transparency of environmental performance against rating criteria”. LUKOIL was the first Russian energy and fuel company to have started publishing its sustainable development reports with a focus on the efficient use of natural resources.
Environmental performance of twenty-one fuel and energy companies, which participated in 2016 rating, was assessed against twenty-eight criteria, including environmental management, level of environmental impact and information disclosure.
