29 July, 1997. - The LUKOIL Racing team did well in the third part of the Moscow track racing opens for the Rothmans-ASPAS cup Sunday.
The Italian racer on the LUKOIL team, Alberto Piedemonte, clocked the best time on his Dallara in the Formula-3 class. Viktor Maslov placed third, losing 19 seconds to the leader.
LUKOIL racers Nikolai Bolshykh and Richard Key (Great Britain) dominated the Supertourism class by achieving excellent results in the qualifications and keeping their advantage in the main races. Their Hondas kept the lead throughout the race and did not leave rivals the slightest chance. As a result Bolshykh placed first and Key second with a time difference of little over a second.
LUKOIL Racing was less successful in the Tourism class, where Dmitri Zorin came fourth on his Lada-Samara. The Lada-Samara of his team-mate Vladimir Cherevan failed, so he had to discontinue and ranked only 14th.
Nevertheless, the team continues to hold leading positions and counts on a victory in the next leg of the competitions and in the overall count.
The fourth and final leg is due in Vorobyovy Gory on September 14.
